The Department of Data Science is committed to developing skilled professionals who can transform data into meaningful insights and intelligent solutions. The B.Sc. in Data Science programme builds a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, programming, databases, data structures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data visualization, and modern data-driven technologies. Through practical laboratory work, projects, workshops, mentoring, and industry-oriented learning, students develop analytical thinking, programming proficiency, problem-solving ability, and professional skills. The department aims to create an innovative learning environment that prepares graduates for careers in data analytics, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, business intelligence, research, higher studies, and technology entrepreneurship.

Message from the HoD

The Department of Data Science seeks to prepare students for a world in which data is a critical resource for decision-making, innovation, and digital transformation. Our B.Sc. Data Science programme combines mathematical and statistical foundations with programming, databases, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and practical data analysis. We encourage students to learn through laboratory practice, projects, seminars, competitions, and industry-oriented activities. Our objective is to nurture professionals who are technically competent, analytically strong, ethically responsible, and ready to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies.

1. Academic Qualification:
Passed 10+2 (or equivalent) examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics and Mathematics (compulsory), along with one of the following: Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Information Technology / Information Practices / EngineeringGraphics / Business Studies. • Passed in English (minimum 30% marks) in 10+2. Must have cleared both Theory and Practical in the above subjects.
2. Entrance Exam:
Must have a valid rank in WBJEE or JEE (Main). (for 4 years B.Tech) JELET (for 3 years B.Tech, after Diploma)

Engineering & Technology Diploma (Part-I)
Passed Madhyamik (10th) or equivalent. At least 35% marks in aggregate (without rounding up), and must pass with Mathematics and Physical Science/Science as compulsory
Lateral Entry (Part-II)
Passed 10+2 Vocational, or 2-year ITI + Madhyamik (10th).
